Rainbows

Rainbows would never be Rainbows
If Sunshine had never met rain
No one would ever need comfort
If there was no sadness or pain
But life holds both sunshine and showers
The days aren't all bright and fair
So look through the showers for Rainbows
You'll always find hope shining there

A face in the Clouds

I looked toward the clouds today
and for a moment saw your face
And wondered just where you have gone
with the hope it's a peaceful place

Did you show yourself to me today
to tell me you're all right?
Or was it just a daydream
playing tricks upon my sight

Then I thought of when you left
still too young to say a word
Yet the look you gave us said it all

in our hearts, your good-bye was heard

You have changed our lives forever
your short time here not in vain
and hope you know we tried it all
to keep you safe from pain

We will always feel the void inside
because you are not here
But each new thought you send our way
let's us know you're always near

So until our journey nears it's end
and we hear the Angels sing
We'll face each new day as it comes
and live off the Love you bring.
James Sullivan
This is a poem I recently wrote in honor of my daughter Rayne.
I hope you all like it. Rest in peace my little Angel.

A bud in Heaven

A bud, the gardener gave me
A fair and lovely child
He gave it to my keeping
To cherish undefiled.

It lay upon my breast
It was my hope and pride
Perhaps it was an idol
Which I must be denied.

For just as it was opening
To the glory of the day
Came down the heavenly gardener
And took my bud away.

Yet not in wrath He took her
A smile was on her face
As tenderly and kindly
He took her from her place.

"Fear not", I thought he whispered
"Thy bud shall be restored
I take it but to plant it
In the garden of the Lord".

He bade me not to sorrow
As those who helpless weep
For He who gave, has taken
And He who took, can keep.

So night and morn together
By the open gate of prayer
I go unto my darling
And sit beside her there.

The Rose

A rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall
and as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread it's branches, straight and tall.

One day a beam of light
shone through a crevice that opened wide
The rose bent gently toward it's warmth
then passed beyond to the other side.

Now, you who deeply feel it's loss,
be comforted the rose blooms there
it's beauty even greater now,
nurtured by God's loving care.

Hi Mummy

It's me, your little Angel
Just checking in with you.
I know you're sad
because I'm gone,
and Mummy I'm sad too.

It's beautiful here,
wherever I am,
there's such a lovely view.
But mostly when I'm sitting here
I'm looking down at you>

I see all your feelings,
everyday when I look down,
I love to see you smile
and I know sometimes you frown

But guess what?
I have a job to do.
God saved it for your little girl.
I get to watch over you
and protect you from the world.

So though you cannot see me
and I know it's hard on you,
You'll surely see the benefits
of the job God has me do.

We knew little that morning
that God would call your name,
In life, we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories
Your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.

Tomorrow

When tomorrow starts without me and I am not there to see,
if the sun should rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears
for me,
I wish so much you would not cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many thinks we did not get to say.

I know how much you love me, as much as I love you,
and each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to
understand,
that an Angel came and called my name, and took me
by the hand.

And said my place was ready, in Heaven far above,
and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away a tear fell from my eye
for all life I'd always thought I did not want to die.

I had so much to live for and so much yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be
for emptiness and memories would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things that I'd miss come
tomorrow
I thought of you and when I did my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through Heaven's gates I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me from His great,
golden throne.

He said "This is eternity, and all love promised you,
Today your life on earth is past, but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last
and since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the
past".

So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart
for every time you think of me,
I'm right here in your heart.

Little hands

Little hands are clasped so tightly
Roguish eyes with glances shy,
Little feet go tripping lightly
Through the gates uplifted high.
Every little heart rejoices,
Clear as brooklets passing by;
Hear them sound their birdlike voices,
Through the gates uplifted high.
Little feet keep tripping bravely,
till their weary bodies die;
Then may angels guide them safely,
to the portals of the sky.
J.H. Kurzenknabe

Lord,
help me to remember
that nothing
is going to happen
to me today
that you and I
together can't handle

I Said A Prayer for you today

I said a prayer for you to-day
And know God must have heard
I felt the answer in my heart
Although he spoke no word
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn't mind
I asked him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind
I asked that He would be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share the way
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.

Heaven

The grass is greener than every green,
Sky so blue, eternity can be seen.
The clouds are huge, fluffy and so white,
A place of safety, never any fright.
Red, yellow and pink are the flowers,

There's no sky scrappers or tall towers.
Only a kingdom with beautiful things,
Guarded by Angels with feathered wings.
Where the Golden Gate swings open wide,
An ocean bright brings in it's tide.
Big tall trees, fill all the empty lots,
A world made of wonderful spots.
Created by God, one man alone,
A great magnificent, peaceful zone.
Made for us to live in forever,
Welcomed there always, leave there never.
Everything we would need, is right here,
Anything we wanted would be near,
Heaven is the place I'm talking of,
Through the clouds, way up above.

Father's Day

A gift for you on Father's Day
What on earth could it be?
I know the gift you really want,
Is to once again, have me
Or perhaps the gift of understanding,
To make sense of a senseless loss.
I'm sorry, my dearest daddy,

But for those gifts, you must talk to the boss.
The gifts that I can give today,
Are memories, both sad and sweet.
From the touch of your hand on mommy's tummy,
To my little tiny feet.
Remember the joy you felt inside,
When you found out you'd be my daddy?
The great big smile upon your face,
You were over the moon, you were so happy.
Remember when you felt me move,
The wonder and love you'd feel?
Remember it today daddy,
It just might help you heal.
Remember the little cuddles we had,
And the moments that we shared.
Remember my little nose and the color of my hair,
I love you dearest daddy, you know that this is true.
Just keep your memories of me alive,
And I will always live in you.

You See What?

Tell me ... what do you see when you look at this child?
A tragedy of misfortune? A life defiled?
Do you see the mountains which this wheelchair can't climb?
This 'chair as a prison, whose walls are "time"?
Do you see a handicap, a body that won't work?
Failure, lost potential, nature's joke gone berserk?
Do you visualize very clearly the bills stacked so high,

While hopes are all dashed, so there's no reason to try?
Give me your answer; work it out in your mind,
And I'll prove you could not possibly be any more Blind!
"How can you say that?" you demand like I'm wild ...
Because you looked at Your Fears, and Not at the Child!
Let me tell you what I see, right from the start
When I look at this kid through the eyes of my heart ...
I see a kid who rides horses, goes swimming, and laughs,
Who loves the zoo, and watching giraffes!
I see a daughter who thinks she's the "Belle of the Ball",
A good student, a friend who likes going to the mall.
Or a son who likes frogs, and puppies, and jokes,
But hates all homework, and lectures from his folks.
I see, not a heartache, nor embarrassment, nor trouble,
But a KID, with a LIFE, who has FUN on the double ...
A person of stature, even while sitting down,
A hope for tomorrow, a SMILE, not a frown.
I see a KID, not a condition, one of God's works of art,
And you'll see it, too, when you look with your heart!

Life

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.

Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is a bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is costly, care for it.
Life is wealth, keep it.
Life is love, enjoy it.
Life is a mystery, know it.
Life is a promise, fullfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it!!
